South Florida Society for Arts and Culture is excited to announce our Fall 2019, children's theatre production of Willy Wonka, Jr. the Musical in partnership with the Palm Beach Children's Chorus. Willy Wonka, Jr. the Musical will be performed at the South Florida Society for Arts and Culture in Palm Beach Gardens, FL on December 7-8, 2019.
The delicious adventures of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory light up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl's fantastical tale. Featuring the enchanting songs from the 1971 film, in addition to a host of fun new songs, Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka JR. is a scrumdidilyumptious musical guaranteed to delight everyone's sweet tooth. Willy Wonka, Jr. is a musical that combines elements of both Roald Dahl's book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and of the 1971 movie Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory with newly created material.
Youth ages 7-18 (or grades 2-12) have the incredible opportunity to learn from a dedicated team of professional instructors. Children and youth are given instruction in the theatrical and performing arts in a structured group environment with access to performances on a professional stage. Each production will have a set rehearsal schedule and a live stage performance at the end of the session.

Auditions Details: Tuesday/Wednesday: AUGUST 27-28, 2019, 6:00 PM -9:00 PM. You will only need to come to one day of the initial auditions, either August 27 or 28, 2019. CALL BACKS, TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 2019 6:00 PM -9:00 PM.

What to prepare: You must prepare 16 bars of a (song) music selection (FROM MUSICAL THEATRE). In addition, a 1 minute monologue is required in the audition. Please DO NOT SING a song from Willy Wonka, Jr., Willy Wonka Kids, Willy Wonka, or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Please bring accompaniment music on a CD or mp3 device. We will not provide an accompanist.
What to Bring to the audition: A headshot and resume, your instrumental accompaniment music
What to Wear: comfortable clothing/closed toe or dance shoes (as there is a dance section in the audition).
Cost for Audition: $10 audition fee
Production/Participation Fee: There is a $400 production/participation fee. This includes all classes/instruction and coaching /rehearsals, and costume fee.
Performance Dates: Production will be December 7-8, 2019 at our performing arts facility at 4076 PGA Blvd., Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410.
Rehearsal Schedule: Rehearsals are typically on Tuesdays, from 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm and Saturdays from 12 pm - 3 pm. Four (4) weeks from the show performance date, rehearsals on Thurdays, from 6:00 -8:30 pm will be added to the calendar.
** Required Family Hours: All cast families are required to contribute a minimum of 20-30 volunteer hours per actor towards the production.
Buy Out Option: A limited number of buy-out options will be available for this show. The buy-out option would excuse the family from their required 20-30 family volunteer hours towards the show. In addition to our musical theatre production classes, we offer enrichment classes in Music, Theatre, Voice, and Bak/Dreyfoos Audition Prep.

We are honored to partner with Palm Beach Children's Chorus is being a beacon in our community for the performing arts for youth and adults. We are a non-profit organization committed to bringing excellence in entertainment and performing arts instruction to Palm Beach County and beyond. In addition, we are also a multi-theatre venue with over 20,000 square feet available for rental/hosting of private and public events. We are able to accommodate both community and corporate events.
