Shrek The Musical JR. Auditions
South Florida Society for Arts and Culture is proud to partner with Palm Beach Children's Chorus to announce our Fall 2020-Spring 2021 children's theatre production season! We are excited to announce that we will be performing Shrek the Musical JR for our Fall 2020 production. During the Spring of 2020, our production plans for Shrek, Jr. were halted abruptly by the Coronavirus pandemic. We are ready to bring exciting and educational musical theatre back to our community! Details for the Shrek the Musical, Jr. auditiona are below. Please check back in a few weeks for details about our Spring 2021 production.In addition to our musical theatre production classes, we also offer classes in theatre, music discovery, chorus, voice, and audition prep.
Shrek the Musical, Jr. Auditions:
We are now holding auditions for Shrek the Musical JR! Casting kids Ages 10-18 who love to sing, act, and dance and have a flair for performing! Youth ages 10-18 have the incredible opportunity to learn from a dedicated team of professional instructors. Children and youth are given instruction in the theatrical and performing arts in a structured group environment with access to performances on a professional stage. Each production will have a set rehearsal schedule and an end of the season, stage performance that will be recorded and streamed on the internet.
About The Show
Beauty is in the eye of the ogre in Shrek The Musical JR., based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and fantastic Broadway musical. It's a "big bright beautiful world" as everyone's favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, Shrek JR. is an irreverently fun show with a powerful message for the whole family.

Auditions are open to students ages 10-18.
**Auditions will be held virtually by appointment only.
Audition Dates:
- Tuesday, September 22, 2020 from 6 pm - 9 pm
- Wednesday, September 23, 2020 from 6 pm-9pm
For auditions you only need to attend one of the dates. Your audition will be held virtually online through ZOOM.
You will attend one audition date. Appointments for auditions should be requested by emailing pbchildrenschorus@gmail.com. Please type in the subject header: Shrek, Jr. Audition Request.
Callbacks (By Invitation Only)

What to Prepare:
- 1 minute comedic monologue (memorized)
- 1 minute of a song from musical theatre that shows off your range and personality! Please be ready with the accompaniment for your song. You will be controlling the music from your own device. Please do not sing a song from the musical Shrek, Shrek JR or any of the Shrek movies.
- During the Call Back, Auditionees will also be taught a short dance/choreography combination.
Should you receive a call back, please be ready to dance. You should wear clothes comfortable for movement
- Prior to your audition, you will need to submit a headshot and resume to the audition
- You may be asked to read from the script . An online exerpt will be provided of the script for those who receive a callback.
Cast Production Fee
$350 Cast Production Fee - This includes all classes/instruction and coaching/rehearsals and costume fee
Rehearsal Schedule is typically:
Tuesdays, from 6:00 pm - 8:30 PM
Thursdays from 6:00PM- 8:30 PM
Saturdays from 12:00pm-3:00PM
Performance Dates/Times:
TBD. Our projected date for the streamed performance(s) of Shrek, Jr. will be December 18-19, 2020.
Our performance of Shrek, Jr. will be recorded and live stream. Due to the Coronavirus and social distancing concerns, we will perform the musical on a stage, but not in front of a live audience. At a later time, the performance will be streamed for viewing.
** Required Family Hours: All cast families are required to contribute a minimum of 20-30 hours per actor towards the production.
Buy Out Option: A limited number of buy-out options will be available for this show. The buy-out option would excuse the family from their required 20-30 family hours towards the show. The fee for the buy-out is $275 on top of the registration/production fee. If you are interested in a buy-out option, please contact Sandi Russell at info@southfloridafinearts.

Youth ages 4-18 have the incredible opportunity to learn from a dedicated team of professional instructors. Children and youth are given instruction in the theatrical and performing arts in a structured group environment with access to performance on a professional stage. Our Youth Arts Workshop productions and enrichment/discovery classes are offered throughout the school year, as well as in our various summer camps. Each production will have a set rehearsal schedule and a live stage performance at the end of the session. In addition to our musical theatre production classes, we offer enrichment classes in Music, Theatre, Voice, and Bak/Dreyfoos Audition Prep.

We are honored to partner with Palm Beach Children's Chorus is being a beacon in our community for the performing arts for youth and adults. We are a non-profit organization committed to bringing excellence in entertainment and performing arts instruction to Palm Beach County and beyond. In addition, we are also a multi-theatre venue with over 20,000 square feet available for rental/hosting of private and public events. We are able to accommodate both community and corporate events.
